During the 2019 United Nations Climate Change Summit, we devoted an entire week of shows to the climate crisis. We spoke to guests who can help us tackle the issue from all sides.
Our window to combat this threat is closing. The United Nations has said that if we are to avoid the worst impacts of climate change, we must keep the average global temperature from rising more than 3.6 degrees Fahrenheit. In order to keep from breaking that limit, scientists said that every country in the world needs to decrease its carbon emissions to zero by 2030.
But activists, scholars, politicians and everyday people are fighting to ensure the planet’s survival. Homeowners are investing in solar panels. Bills that would place a tax on carbon emissions have been introduced in Congress. Researchers are encouraging governments to invest in carbon dioxide removal technology.
